So, this week’s been a bit quieter than usual, though I’ve been glad of the rest to be honest.
Ended up in Blythswood Square on Monday with some of the Writers for a bit since it was a nice day, and then had the usual meeting on Tuesday. Brought in my story about a drunk hologram, and enjoyed Rebecca’s long-awaited story about the teleporter, even though it had a really sad ending. :(
Went to Edinburgh on Wednesday, hoping to meet up with a friend I had met at the Manchester gathering, but unfortunately by the time I was able to get there she had already left, but I was also meeting up with Cara and Elizabeth, so it all worked out in the end. They continued with there obsession with feeding me, and I had vegetables with Dough Balls, something I’ll have to try making myself. We also went to see “In the Loop”, a really funny political comedy that I’d recommend.
Burger Thursday saw a rare appearance by its founder, Rob, and the Ark had a new menu, including a bean casserole thing that I had. The night consisted of the usual conversations and Hazel drawing sketches of her on increasingly bizarre adventures.
Friday was my Grandad’s 81st birthday, so we went out for a meal in the early evening. The rest of the weekend hasn’t been that eventful, and this is the first Saturday for ages where I haven’t been out, which has given me a chance to relax.
Going out to a party of some sort after Writers on Tuesday as far as I know, so that should be good. Other than that, just waiting to see what happens.

What can you do in the bath with a sonic screwdriver?
Well, today was the Doctor Who YouTube gathering, and I’m pleased to say it went really well. :) Was really expecting something to go disartirasly wrong, but everyone seemed to have a really good time.
I decided to break with the tradition of the host always turning up late and showed up around ten to noon. It wasn’t long before John arrived guiding some of the new arrivals to George Square at almost the exact moment that Cara showed up. We waited around for a bit, and then spotted a red-haired girl coming towards the square that we assumed had to be Fiona. Cara immediately ran towards her for a death-hug, but discovered as she got nearer that it wasn’t in fact Fiona, and she ended up running right past in an attempt to hide the mistake and ran back to the group. As it turned out, the girl, and her twin-brother, were in fact YouTubers who were here for the gathering.
After playing a game called “Icebreaker” meeting up with a few others in St Enoch food court, we got the subway to Kelvingrove, and those of us with tickets headed into the Doctor Who exhibition. It was much bigger and better than the one I had previously seen in Cardiff, and we ended up walking around several times to see everything. There was the Dalek you could control and speak into, another two Daleks that would attempt to exterminate you, along with other characters from the past four years of the show.
After we had been through and all bought sonic screwdrivers, we got some food and went to the Botanic Gardens, and sat in the sun for a few hours while playing Icebreaker again and some people played tig/tag. After going back to the city centre we thought about going to the cinema, but settled on Starbucks instead, giving us all a chance to talk and get to know each other a little better.
Once we left at closing time, most people were leaving for home, and we said our goodbyes, after an encounter with a very drunk Tina.
All in all, it was a fantastic day, particularly as about half the gathering were new people who hadn’t been before, and so it gave us all a chance to make some new friends.

Here Comes The Noise
So, spent most of last weekend at Hazel’s flat. First up was her “new 18th”. The plan had been to spend the afternoon at her’s and then all go out to a bar or club, but as I suspected we ended up staying there for the entire day. We played Guitar Hero and then our own version of Ring of Fire/Circle of Death, which ended up with the rule of having to end every sentence with “in my pants”, and taking a drink if you didn’t, and then not being allowed to say anyone’s first name or point at anyone. Needless to say, I ended up having to drink a few times.
Then we moved on to Tekken, and spent most of the time fighting with the now legendary Doctor B. Finally, we watched “Hero”, and Stewart and Euan did one of their trademark dubbings of the film, before Stewart revealed at the end that he actually knew the real plot of the film all along while emphasising his hatred for someone named “Turnip Head”. I also invented a new animal, the sporse (spider/horse).
On Easter Monday we were back for the second movie day, consisting of Evolution, which was already a film I really liked, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which was hilariously strange, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Pulp Fiction, one of my all-time favourite films, Blues Brothers, with one of the best endings to a film ever, both Kill Bills, the first one I really liked but the second went on for too long. We finished with Doomsday, laughing once again at how ridiculously wrong they got the layout of Glasgow.
By this point, it was 5am, so we all fell asleep where we there. When I woke up at about 10, I found that only me, Rebecca and Hazel were left, and that everyone else had managed to escape without being noticed during the night. I went home for a shower, and then headed back in for Writers’. Once again, we read out some of the comedy pieces, both consisting of most of us trying to kill Tom.
Burger Thursday had a bigger turnout than I had expected, and we spent most of that night translating Norse phrases that Hazel wrote on a napkin, and then trying to solve riddles.
So, tomorrow is the Doctor Who gathering. Both excited and nervous about it, but hopefully it’ll go well, and get a good turnout. Will blog soon again!

The Return of the Blog
So, unsurprisingly, I’ve neglected this blog for several months, and have just discovered that I’m about the only person in the Writers’ Society who doesn’t have one, so I’ve decided to try and keep this up-to-date since there might be a few people reading it. Whether I’ll actually manage this or not remains to be seen.
The last few months have been really busy. Between making various trips to Edinburgh, going to a gathering in Manchester at the end of February, and loads of cinema trips to see everything from “Slumdog Millionaire” (One of my favourite films ever) to “Lesbian Vampire Killers” (Surprisingly good), it’s been an interesting year so far.
This week in particular is going to be busy. Got Hazel’s “new 18th” tomorrow, and then a movie day at her flat on Monday, with both Pulp Fiction and Doomsday (What more could you possibly want), and then the Doctor Who gathering I’m organising a week tomorrow. Really looking forward to it.
Anyway, will try to post to this regularly now, and may use this blog also to post a few stories from Writers’ here.
